Common Questions
How deep do you grind a stump?
We grind below ground level, deep enough that the area can be covered with soil and sod or replanted. If you plan to plant a new tree in the same spot, tell us when you call so we can grind wider and deeper to suit.
Will the tree grow back from the stump?
Grinding removes the stump and the root crown that produces sprouts, so regrowth is uncommon. Some species send up shoots from distant roots for a season; if that happens, cutting the shoots as they appear starves them out.
What happens to the grindings?
Most customers keep the grindings as mulch or have them backfilled into the hole and leveled. If you would rather they leave with us, say so when you book and we will haul them away as part of the visit.
Can you grind a stump someone else left?
Yes. A large share of our grinding work is stumps left behind by storms, old removals, or other companies. Size, access, and what is buried nearby are all we need to quote it.
